How will my training contract be structured?

We offer four seats, spending six months in each of our departments, Company, Commercial, Dispute Resolution, Liability and Workplace. You will get the opportunity to work with clients from a variety of different sectors. About half way through your seat we will meet with you to discuss your preferences for the next seat, and wherever possible try and accommodate your wishes.

What formal training will I receive?

In your first two weeks with us you will complete the compulsory section of the Professional Skills Course run by an external provider, after which you will receive a week's detailed induction solely tailored for Trainees. Throughout your two years you will be given the opportunity to attend in-house and external training seminars and lectures.

How will I be managed and appraised?

During each seat you will be assigned a senior solicitor or partner who will act as your training supervisor during your time in their team. They will be responsible for monitoring your progress and workload as well as your day-to-day duties. At the end of each seat your training supervisor will conduct an appraisal on your performance. There is also a feedback meeting for all trainees, which takes place every February.

Will I be offered a position on qualification?

It is our intention to offer trainees a position on qualification – this is the goal we have in mind whenever we hire trainees. By the middle of your third seat it is likely you will have a good idea of the team / area you would like to qualify into and you will be given the opportunity to apply to your preferred team.
