Our Hong Kong practice is one of four practices in the Asia-Pacific region handling both contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering related matters.
Our team advises on projects throughout Asia and the Middle East including in Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.
We handle both contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering matters dealing with a wide range of construction projects, including:
- Property development and private public partnerships (PPPs)/private finance initiatives (PFIs)
- Offices and retail premises
- Healthcare facilities, schools and universities
- Harbours, tunnels and dams
- Power stations and energy projects
- Bridges, roads and railways
Our well-regarded practice acts in relation to construction and engineering insurance and non-insurance claims, whether that be claims arising between contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers or under 'all risks' policies for the cost of repairing damage or for the cost of delay, claims for or against contractors or employers regarding design, workmanship and delay issues or defending construction industry professionals against claims for negligence.
Contentious
We advise insureds and insurers on the application of policies written for the construction of harbours, tunnels, dams, office blocks, power stations, bridges and roads.
We also advise on disputes arising out of such projects for insureds, insurers, well-known employers, contractors and consultants.
Non-contentious
We are experienced in drafting and negotiating construction contracts, development and finance agreements, performance bonds, consultant appointments and related documentation.
On the engineering side, our team is experienced in both contentious and non-contentious work - in particular within the oil and gas and rail industries.
