Martin joins our Manchester office as a Partner from DWF. Martin, who qualified in 2003, has spent his career developing a third party counter-fraud practice with particular focus on motor fraud. He is well known for his work in respect of a number of cross-insurer organised fraud investigations as well as the cases of Adam v Lick UK Limited (2007) (where important findings were made in respect of a supposed expert witness, suspected by insurers and the Insurance Fraud Bureau, of knowingly assisting fraudulent insurance claims) and the 2010 criminal conviction of fraudsters on behalf of QBE and Afford Rent-a-Car in relation to the hire car 'crash for cash' incidents which occurred in Stoke-on-Trent in 2007.
As well as developing Kennedys' counter-fraud capability, Martin will enhance our fraud profile generally with our other leading fraud partners Roger Jones, Robert Welfare and Helen Tilley.
Martin comments "I am delighted to be joining Kennedys, a firm with an outstanding reputation with insurers and self-insured clients. The firm has a proven track record and I look forward to working with my new colleagues and with our clients in developing further successful counter-fraud strategies and solutions."
Nick Thomas, Senior Partner said "Fraud is a major concern for the insurance industry and our clients are keen to work with lawyers who have both the legal expertise and access to the intelligence with which to identify and minimise the impact of fraudulent activities. Kennedys has a number of partners and lawyers with proven expertise in fraud related work and this appointment strengthens our offering even further to key clients which include Brit, RSA and Travelers. I am delighted to welcome Martin to Kennedys."
