Suzanne joined four other leading ladies on 25 January, to talk about their key roles in the city, how they got to where they are, and their approach to get there:
- Pam Liversidge OBE DL is the first female Master Cutler chosen by the Company since it was founded in 1624. She is also former High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, and received an OBE in 1999 for services to engineering.
- Julie Kenny CBE DL will soon take over as High Sheriff of South Yorkshire and is Chair of Yorkshire Forward.
- Councillor Sylvia Dunkley is Sheffield’s 15th female Lord Mayor since Ann Longden in 1936.
- Councillor Julie Dore is the Leader of Sheffield City Council and has represented the Arbourthorne ward for 11 years.
Suzanne comments: "This year, and for the first time ever, five of the most significant roles in South Yorkshire are held by women which is something to be celebrated."
The event, held at Sheffield Hallam University, drew a sell out crowd who were entertained by an hour of forthright, funny, and at times touching stories of how they got to be in the top roles that they find themselves in today.
