Ric Martin - Chief Executive

Experience

Ric Martin qualified as a barrister and solicitor in Australia in 1971. He worked in England for a small West End firm in the early 70s before returning to Australia where he was a partner in a commercial firm in Adelaide.

In 1979 he moved to Hong Kong where, initially, he was in the Prosecution's Division. During his time in HK he spent five years drafting legislation before being appointed as Deputy Solicitor General, a role that included responsibility for managing a department of, then, 180 lawyers.

In 1989 he became Partnership Secretary at Masons and was part of the management team during the difficult days of the last recession. During this time he was involved in the opening and development of a number of new offices in the UK and abroad.

In 1997 he was appointed as Chambers Director at Fountain Court Chambers which position he held for three years. He then became Chief Executive at Townleys, a niche sports firm before taking them into a merger with Hammond Suddards Edge. In September 2001 he was appointed Chief Executive at Kennedys and he was made a partner in May 2002.
