Kennedys’ employment team advises employers and employees on both contentious and non-contentious employment issues.

We strive to make sure our clients are up-to-date on the ever-changing laws relating to employment and industrial relations and so as to prevent legal issues arising.

Kennedys’ employment team is a specialist department that caters for clients’ needs across the spectrum of employment and industrial relations law.

Whilst we work closely with a number of other Kennedys' practice areas, the employment team is unusual for an international City firm, not being a bolt-on or ancillary service but rather a thriving department with its own established client base, generating its own work through a growing reputation of competence, approachableness and value for money.

We act mainly for large and medium sized businesses but also assist senior individuals from time to time as well.

The Kennedys' employment team is highly experienced in dealing with the full raft of employment-related litigation, including wages, contract, discrimination and dismissal related disputes as well as large, group action litigation, for instance in the fields of equal pay and TUPE. We have particular expertise in assisting clients with large, unionised workforces, including obtaining High Court injunctions to restrain industrial action.

The team is equally well versed in assisting clients with day-to-day HR issues and strategy, including handling discipline and grievance matters, advising upon redundancies, reorganisations and business transfers, advising upon data protection issues and drafting documents, such as compromise agreements, contracts, procedures and policies. We understand the pressures on HR and in-house legal departments and strive to support you with a service that is accessible, clear, prompt and pragmatic. We work in partnership with our clients and take the attitude that your problem is our problem.

Kennedys’ employment team offers tailored training sessions according to client need, whether that be attending routine HR meetings for informal discussion, more formal seminars or our highly regarded mock employment tribunal course that utilises practising barristers. We also offer a monthly employment law bulletin to clients, at no cost.
